About Fr. James Gardiner, SA
In 1961, Father Gardiner took his first vows with the Franciscan Friars of the Atonement. He is the former director of the Graymoor Spiritual Life Center in Garrison, N.Y. Currently, Father Gardiner is director of special projects at the Franciscan Monastery of the Holy Land in America chair of the Washington Archdiocesan Holy Land Committee, regional representative for the Catholic Association of Diocesan Ecumenical and Interreligious Officers, and vice president of the Washington, D.C. Chapter of the Religion Communicators Council. He is on the board of Franciscan Mission.
During Pope Francis’ 2016 visit to the United States, Father Gardiner offered radio commentary for CBS Radio. In 2016 he was the host of the Wilbur Awards for the Religion Communications Council, where he presented an award to journalist Jane Pauley on behalf of the CBS Sunday Morning team.
