The St. Christopher’s Inn community was blessed by a visit from Matt Butler—singer, songwriter, poet and storyteller—who shared his one-man show, Reckless Son, with over 200 Brothers Christopher, St. Christopher’s Inn Alumni and invited guests gathered in Our Lady of Atonement Chapel on Saturday, October 26. Through a powerful combination of spoken word and song, Reckless Son humanizes the experience of the incarcerated by giving them a voice and telling their stories of hope, forgiveness, and self-discovery.
The evening included an art show highlighting the creative work of our Brothers Christopher who participate in the therapeutic arts program. Two current Brothers Christopher shared their writings while guests were also treated to a video testimony from an alumnus of the program who explained his creative process and spoke about the meaning of art in his life and recovery.
Matt Butler is no stranger to the Holy Mountain having performed for our Brothers Christopher before. He has even written a song entitled St. Christopher’s Inn which is part of his Reckless Son show.
The evening was an uplifting testament to the healing power of the arts, introducing those gathered to the Inn’s ever-expanding therapeutic programming while offering a night of fellowship and friendship.
