For most of his life, Brother Charles worked for years in pastoral and social ministries, while sharing Father Paul’s message of At-One-Ment during his life. On Wednesday, July 27, Brother Charles entered into Eternal Life at the age of 77.

The annual retreat at Graymoor for the Tertiaries of the Society of the Atonement and the Society of Franciscan Deacons was a hallowed adventure. “It went very well,” said Deacon Tom Rich, TSA, the Holy Mountain Franciscan Retreat Center’s Executive Director. “It was a very good retreat for us. We’re all very close in our work and so forth. It was very enjoyable.”

On Sunday, July 24, the 71-year-old “Iron Friar” will return to Lake Placid to compete in the Ironman – what he says will be his final Ironman event – capping off a long and storied career competing in the triathlon.

Born in 1935 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Father John was ordained on June 7, 1962, after completing his studies at St. Pius X Seminary and St. John’s Atonement Seminary. Not long after his ordination, Father John sojourned to the Far East, serving in parishes across Japan for 18 years.

Over June 22-25, 2022, some 40 theologians, ecclesiologists, historians, ethicists, and ecumenists gathered in San Juan, Puerto Rico for a conference held under the auspices of the Ecclesiological Investigations International Research Network.

During the Franciscan Friars of the Atonement Assembly in March, the Friars unveiled a new statement detailing our vision of At-One-Ment as it is given by Christ in the Gospels, our mission of sharing this gift to all peoples and the values that govern our actions in this mission.

Things had been heating up at the Centro Pro Unione well before the summer solstice. The organization shows no signs of slowing through the summer as it continues to provide events to further At-One-Ment in Italy and around the world.
