A concert of Sacred Music “Sorelle Molinelli” will be given by Gina Molinelli and Manuela Molinelli at Our Lady of Atonement Chapel on Sunday, May 5.
Manuela Molinelli is an acclaimed opera and liturgical singer based out of Assisi. Since she was a child, Manuela has been in choirs, have sung solo for three Popes, performed in operas and concerts in Europe and Puerto Rico, and sung with many different groups in concert from South Africa to Poland. Manuela has also sung with Frate Alessandro on many occasions in Assisi. Manuela is cofounder of the Orchestra Lirica Umbra, a group of singers and musicians who give concerts throughout the year at churches and theaters in Italy. For Palm Sunday, the OLU performed the Stabat Mater in Assisi with Manuela as the featured mezzo-soprano.
Gina Creary Molinelli is a part of the Graymoor music ministry, both singing and playing piano frequently at the Sunday Liturgies since 2003. She has also been a member of the Saint Augustine Choir in Ossining with her mother, Audrey Creary, and late father John Creary. And she is currently a cantor and choir member at her home Parish of St. Theresa’s. Prior, Gina was a member and occasional soloist with the Manhattanville Chorus and Women’s Glee Club, the Papal Choir for John Paul II Mass at Central Park, and the chorus of The Catholic University of America which performed annually at the Kennedy Center.
Gina and Manuela first sang together earlier this year at Santa Maria Maggiore in Assisi, the home of the tomb of Blessed Carlo Acutis. And while they are not really sisters, they are both sisters in spirit in the ways they have shared their angelic voices recognizing it is a gift from God.
