Graymoor Ecumenical & Interreligious Institute has named Dr. Aaron Hollander as its new Executive Director. Read about his vision to carry forward a legacy of healing and dialogue in a divided world.
GARRISON- Graymoor Ecumenical & Inter-religious Institute, a ministry of the Franciscan Friars of Atonement in Garrison, has appointed a lay Executive Director for the first time in its 58-year history.
Dr. Aaron Hollander will lead the foundation headquartered in Putnam.
Prior to accepting the new leadership role, Hollander was President of the North American Academy of Ecumenists. He currently serves on the steering committee of the Ecclesiological Investigations International Research Network while his research has been awarded grants by the Fulbright US Student Program, the American Academy of Religion, the Council of American Overseas Research Centers, and the University of Chicago.
Hollander intends to continue the role of the Atonement Friars who have been a part of the spiritual landscape of Putnam County for 125 years.
“In this time of heightened religious tensions, the appointment highlights the purpose of Graymoor and the crux of what the Friars of the Atonement are all about: To bring healing to a broken world by increasing thoughtful dialogue and respect for all people” he said.
Under his leadership, Graymoor intends to expand its reach in universities, seminaries, churches, and communities—providing resources for meaningful conversation and collaborative action.
