January 1 is World Day of Peace
St. Francis was one of the world’s greatest peacemakers. Peace begins with you and me when God is at its source. In Assisi on October 27, 1986, St. John Paul II urged as all to become “artisans of peace”. You see God wants us to live our live in peace with each other. “Peace is God’s dream, his plan for humanity” (Pope Francis).
Peace is a gift from God and because of his Spirit, we can be true instruments of His peace. Nearly 125 years ago, our founders Servant of God Fr. Paul Wattson, SA, and Mother Lurana, SA set out to be peacemakers and carry forward the message of at-one-ment to the world. Graymoor remains today-a beacon without barricades-open to all who would seek its peace.
January is an important month of peace and unity. On January 1, we celebrate the Solemnity of Mary and World Day of Peace. From January 18-25, we celebrate the global Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. All of these celebrations are reminders of God’s desire for us to love one another. We invite you to join us throughout this month of peace in our special novena for world peace to our patron, St. Francis, our week of prayer celebrations which began with our founder, Fr. Paul Wattson, SA, and through our annual mass and reflections celebrating the Solemnity of Mary.
May the Spirit of St. Francis, Fr. Paul, and Mother Lurana be with you and your family as we begin this new year together in God’s peace.
