Can You Figure Out What God Wants You To Do In These 4 Easy Steps?

Franciscan Friars of the Atonement's Our Lady of the Atonement House of Discernment participant Schafer Knostman recently shared about a simple exercise that helped him discern his vocation.

If you’re wondering where God is calling you, give this activity a try! 

  • To begin, choose ten words or phrases that describe your identity.  
  • Next, rank those words according to their importance to you.  
  • Now, next to each word on your list, write a few details that describe why you picked it.  
  • Finally, take a few minutes to pray and reflect on the words you have written. 

When the words at the top of the Schafer’s list were: faith in God, being Catholic, and service to others, he began to realize that God may be calling him to a priestly vocation.

What words are at the top of your list? 

If, like Schafer, you found that words like helping others, faith, and community were at the top, consider applying to the House of Discernment program with the Atonement Friars.
