The faithful of Lulu Island have been served by the Friars and Sisters of the Atonement for over 80 years! To recognize their contribution, St. Joseph the Worker Parish in Richmond, British Columbia, held the First Annual Society of the Atonement Memorial Cup.
On January 24, seventh grade girl teams from around the area participated in this basketball tournament in the hopes of winning the Society of the Atonement Memorial Cup. Sacred Heart School of Ladner, BC (pictured), won the tournament and was awarded the Tournament Cup by Fr. David Poirier, SA, currently pastor at St. Joseph the Worker.
St. Joseph the Worker Parish strives towards a mission of “encompass(ing) everyone and seeks to: provide a faith-filled community which fosters Christian values and wholeness as Catholics in our world; to improve outreach to the community by giving support, listening, evangelizing, praying and by setting a good Christian example; to promote Christian education’ and to share, to grow and to build for the good of all.”
