Do you want to dispose of your Halloween pumpkin in a fun and environmentally friendly way?

Then come to the inaugural ‘Let’s Green our Halloween’ Pumpkin Smash at Graymoor! On Sunday, November 5th, bring your leftover Halloween pumpkins to Graymoor and break them into pieces! The leftover peelings, rinds and cores will be used for compost at San Damiano Farm, located on the Graymoor grounds.

Did you know that broken down pumpkins are perfect for composting? The materials in a pumpkin break down quickly and easily, becoming nutrient-rich fertilizer. All vegetables, plants and greens cultivated in our farm beds at San Damiano Farm are grown in soil made up of organic compost.

On the other hand, if you throw your pumpkin away in the regular trash, it goes to a landfill. At a landfill, it decomposes and is harmful to the environment.

Our eco-friendly, fun and free event will take place between 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. Guests will be welcome to apple cider and donut refreshments.
