The Friary Studios is the home of artist and craftsman Brother Ted Novak, S.A. Br. Ted has spent the past 35 years of his life as an artist/craftsman, specializing in Firing Crystals and Glazed Ceramic Arts. Additionally he shares his gift by creating Floral and Ceramic artworks in celebration of the special seasons of the Christian calendar.

Beginning in 1970, Br. Ted first spent a year and a half studying advanced glazing, porcelain, plaster and bisque techniques at the Duncan and Mayco Ceramics Studio, receiving his certificate a year and a half later.

In 1989, while in Seminole Florida, Br. Ted further studied the art/craft of chalk on plaster and ceramic bisque with Grumbacher, also receiving a certificate from them.
